Georgia Bicycle Adventures had the honor and pleasure to represent Georgia at the 2014 National Bicycle Tourism Conference in San Diego November 5-8. A record number (250+) of registrants from across the country including national, state, regional and local government agencies, multi day and urban daily tours, charitable events, convention and visitor bureaus, press & publicity, marketing companies, advocacy groups and suppliers presented the latest facts and trends, traded information and best practices, told their stories, made new connections, planned and collaborated for the future and testified to the impressive growth, momentum and increasing economic impact of bicycle tourism in the USA and around the globe.
Georgia Bicycle Adventures’ Robyn and Doug participated in this year’s Georgia Bike Summit in Columbus, GA hosted by Georgia Bikes! to talk Bicycle Tourism and learn more about the conference theme of Complete Streets, Competitive Communities. Many of our friends and “fellow travelers” from around the state were there to join in the sessions and frolic in amazing downtown and riverside Columbus.
Hooray! We’re officially spinning the bicycle tourism wheels for Georgia! The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) released the Georgia Tourism FY15 Marketing & Strategic Plan last week which touted Georgia’s new Bicycle Tourism Initiative in partnership with Georgia Bicycle Adventures!
I was very pleased to attend and speak to Cave Spring’s ‘Connect The Comet’ meeting on Friday, August 29 at the invitation of Cave Spring’s Downtown Development Authority Director, Sandra Lindsey.
Georgia Bicycle Adventures (GBA) was invited to “pedal our stuff” with our partners Georgia Department of Economic Development-Tourism Division at their booth during the recent Georgia Municipal Association conference in Savannah on June 21 and 22nd.
We had a chance to show via the new GDEcD and GBA Bicycle Tourism Video the bicycle tourism opportunity available to Georgia communities.
One of our favorite “fellow traveler” organizations is the Georgia Trail Summit (GTS.)
GTS is a group of self organized volunteers committed to advancing a world-class trail network in Georgia, including rail-trails, greenways, blueways, multi-purpose paths, equestrian trails, and thematic trails based on history, culture and food.
